Steampunk Works, a Steampunk Boutique

Steampunk Works also known as Accents and Antiques is an Amazing Shop on the main street of Audubon, N.J.

I know my blog followers are now aware of how much I love anything Steampunk from my blog, twitter and facebook. Today’s post will be about a quaint little shop nestled among the other thriving businesses on Merchant Street in Audubon, New Jersey.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lee, aka Lady Eleeza and Ralph, aka Commander Von Cobert from the S.S. Airship Amsterdam at one of the Dorian’s Parlor Events in Philadelphia

Ralph and his lovely sometimes undead bride started out as antique dealers

with a flair for finding great and unusual Victorian items to becoming owners of one of the best kept secrets in our little town.

Steampunk Works, located at 117 West Merchant Street, is a lovely combination of accessories, some vintage Victorian clothing and the latest designs and creations put together by Lee and Ralph.

The shop is opened from Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 to 5 and you can also call them at 856-383-4676, or visit them on their site:   www.steampunkworks.com

The world of Steampunk was unknown to the general public a few years ago, but that is quickly changing. With movies like Sherlock Holmes, Steampunk is becoming more popular with men and woman who want to feel elegant and proper. My guess is that any woman will feel quite the princess if she buys an outfit from Steampunk Works.

The Commander and his lovely undead bride are enlarging their boutique by adding more selections such as, pirate, gothic, burlesque and a larger collection of men’s clothing.

The beautiful fashions from Steampunk Works will be featured at several high end events this coming year.

On September 20 to the 28th, Steampunk Works clothing will be featured for a photo opportunity at Bombshell Pinups on 411 N. Haddon Ave.

Save the date and have your picture taken wearing some fine Victorian clothing and check out the reasonably priced picture packages.

October 19th to the 21rst, 2012 they will be featuring a big fashion show called “The Fashionable Dead” at mid-night at the Macabre Fair Grim Gathering Halloween Extravaganza at the Best Western Hotel in Rockville Center, New York.

They will be at Monsters Mania Hill Crown Plaza in Cherry Hill, this coming March 2013.

Steampunk Works will also be featured at the Teslacon Total Emersion into the Victorian Era in Madison Wisconsin from November 30th to December 2nd.

I had asked Lady Eleeza what her goals were for the future of Steampunk and her unique boutique and she said, “I want to put the name Steampunk Works on the lips and minds of everyone and to make the world of Steampunk more widely accepted. People can escape the cares of the world and play a character that they love and Steampunk followers are more open and accepting of all other Cosplay genre.

The Twitch Twitch Production Company in New York is working with Lee and Ralph on putting together a large event in this area that will include all genre groups, hopefully by the year 2015.

I don’t need a crystal ball to see this little store will be bringing in plenty of shoppers to our area and who knows, we might see them or their fashions on television.

And after you buy your outfit from Steampunk Works, you'll need an event to attend. Dorian's Parlor will be hosting a Steampunk Event on September 15th at the Double Tree Hotel. Check out the site below to find out more.

Part Thirty-one of Lilith's Escape

He was silent as he followed her up the stone steps which led to the bedroom.

He wanted her tonight, more than anything, but when she had entered the room, he remained at the door. She seemed to not notice and sat on the bed where she preceded to peel off her high heel leather boots.

It wasn’t until she had begun to rub her feet that she noticed he was still standing at the doorway.

“Why are you standing there? Come sit next to me.” She seemed puzzled by his reluctance to enter.

“Lilith, do you remember when you asked me to make love to you?”

“Yes, why?” she asked seductively as only she could, teasing him with her eyes, her lips, the simple act of rubbing her feet.

“What about the angel who's in love with you? What’s to keep him from tearing me apart if I even try to take you as mine?”

“So you think me a heartless succubus, using angels and men as toys?

Come sit with me and let me explain my actions,” she coaxed.

Edward entered the room and sat on the far side of the bed, but Lilith wasn’t happy and got on her knees and crawled over to him. She reminded him of his cat when it wanted to be petted. He pulled her into his arms and said, “Start explaining.”

“I love my angel, but I must give him up and free him from his punishment, to set things right. I must do this even though the very act of releasing him will bring me eternal sorrow. I must do what I was meant to do centuries ago.” She kissed Edward lightly on the lips.

“And what is that?” Edward asked but his attention was on her lips and how they tasted like cotton candy.

“I must mate with man.”

“Didn't Eve already do this?”

"She wasn't strong enough to change the gene pool."

             “And you are?”

"So Ive been told," she replied and then whispered in his ear, "and for tonight, I'm yours."

“And your lover agrees with this?” Edward asked and quickly glanced over his shoulder at the open balcony. He had heard something just then.

“I haven’t told him yet.”

“What?” He had heard a scrapping sound, but there was nothing on the balcony. “When do you intend to tell him?”

“Now,” she said and looked past Edward to the balcony.

Edward didn’t need to turn around, he knew who it was by the rising temperature of the room and the smell of sulfur.

“Go…wash the smell of death from your body while I talk to him.” Lilith urged Edward as she moved out of his arms and rose from the bed.
Edward headed towards the door but glanced back to catch Lilith with her arms around a not too happy dragon.

Wildwood, here I come!!!

Our daughter and her family rented a room for the week in Wildwood at the Royal Hawaiian

and invited me and my husband to come down and spend the day. Her hotel has a pool and here we are relaxing

But it’s also right off the beach for those of us who like to swim in the ocean.

I love the ocean and no matter how lousy I’m feeling, when I’m at the beach, I feel brand new. I might have been a whale in one of my past lives.

The boys were getting in a day of riding the waves and as you can see by this picture, they love zombies as much as I do. Speaking of zombies,

One of my zombie stories will be in the South Jersey Writer’s short story anthology called “Tall Tales and Short Stories from South Jersey” a great book featuring everything from amusing slices of life to ghostly tales. Coming out in November!!! Okay enough with the commercial, back to the blog

We went out for lunch at a place called the Holy Mackerel Beach CafĂ© on Louisville & the Beach, in the Madrid Resort at Wildwood Crest. They have an amazing menu and the food is awesomely good.
                                              Happy and very hungry

Joe Lazar is the owner and chef and the food was of such quality that I wanted to spread the word. My daughter and the boys ordered the mussels and shrimp combo.

The shrimps were jumbo sized and succulent, my grandsons wolfed down the plate.

My husband had the mussels and linguini and loved the large serving size and the special attention paid to the preparation of the tasty dish.

I had the Fried Shrimp PoBoy and it was to die for, yummy good, with jumbo shrimp, broccoli rabe and cheese.

Joe Lazar is open from 8 a.m. and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Call his number to find out his hours after the Labor Day Weekend, 609-522-1820. And if you stop in, say hello to Sophia Boyle, his waitress and all around nice person. She made the meal even more special with her attention to details.
This is the look of a well fed family at Holy Macerel

The Male Intellect, Dean Martin, Seinfeld, Cousins and Time Travel, Oh my!

This has been a strange week for me. Yes I know, most of my adventures lean towards the strange, but this week I think my e-mail had its brain sucked out by some type of zombie invasion.

I’ll get back to this story in a bit, but first I want to go back in time to the previous weekend. Is time travel possible? Apparently in some cases, it is.

I had some friends over for a party on August 18th to celebrate Michele getting a teaching job in Washington D.C. I took lots of pictures and posted some in my blog, “Apples to Google+ and Farewell to Good Friends”

My husband had designed and printed up some business cards for me to hand out to potential agents, editors, publishers etc. My friends asked for a few to hand out to their friends and that is when we discovered the mistake, one letter missing from the word supernatural. Ack!! We had both missed it. Back to the drawing boardL

                                                           new and improved card

I wanted to send a copy of the new business card to my friends with the pictures from the party. I sent the e-mail with attachments, checked the sent folder, confirmed that pictures were sent and then happily went to bedJ

My sister called the next day and I asked her if she liked the new card and the pictures.

“What card? What pictures?  Oh Oh! Trouble…I called my friends and found out that none of them received the e-mail.

After failing to get anything sent out we had to call in the Geek Squad. To make a long story short…zombies!

I couldn’t use my computer, so I took up my Cousin Don’s offer to go visit our other cousins in Margate for the day. I needed to unwind and I enjoyed my visit, even though it was bittersweet. One of the sisters had passed away earlier this year and she was sorely missed.
                                                           Cousin Marie, far right.

While there, my cousins played a few CD’s that they had purchased and I forgot all about my computer troubles because of how funny these shows were.

You have to buy the CD of Robert Dubac’s “The Male Intellect, an Oxymoron” this is worth seeing. He is amazing and I will be buying his other stuff too.

We then watched the “Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts featuring Guy Marks roasting Michael Landon, way too funny.

We also watched some Seinfeld early episodes, but this was always my favorite.

When I returned home late that night, feeling refreshed, happy and stuffed from all the good food that was served, my husband mentioned that he had to restore the computer to the previous week to see if this would help with our problem.

You can do this? Could we do this with our lives? Think of the possibilities. I could go back to a younger, thinner me.

My plan is to sit in front of the computer and have my husband restore me back a few years.

I’ll let you know how I doJ
