Part Thirty of Lilith's Escape

“I’m sorry,” Edward said, seeing how upset Lilith was with his attempt at humor, “but this is my way of coping with all of this paranormal stuff.”

“I don’t set out to capture and crush hearts, Edward. I and the others like me were made to be desirable to improve the gene pool for the planet we are assigned to.”

Well, she was desirable that’s for sure, but something Lilith had said puzzled Edward. “What others?” he asked.

“There is more than one Universe and each universe is filled with planets and life forms that have either reached your point of evolution or have surpassed it. When a life form has reached the point of self-recognition, an immortal is sent to improve the survival of the species.”

“Whatever happened to Eve? Wasn’t she an immortal? Did she die?” Edward was curious about the whereabouts of the mother of all mankind. Eve was after all, the genetic cocktail that set the human race on its evolutionary fast track.

“She is alive, but this is all I will tell you.”

“Who’s behind the capture of Lazarus and the zombie that attacked me?” Edward asked.

“The Illuminati are the ones behind this treachery,

along with a few renegade immortals .

These are dangerous times for your world.”

“How do we fight them?” Edward asked, unsure if he really wanted to know.

“With our very lives, but not tonight. Tonight you are mine, dear one.” Lilith put out her hand for Edward to take.

As Edward took her hand and followed her back to the castle, he gave a cautious glance up towards the sky and wondered what his chances of survival would be if he took Lilith as his, tonight.

Apples to Google+ and Farewell to Good Friends

This weekend was somewhat bittersweet for me.

One of my close friends and a former co-worker from when I worked at the Academy of Natural Sciences is leaving the Philly area. She’s moving to Washington D.C. where she’ll be teaching Science at an elementary school. It will be a big loss for the Academy, but what a wonderful gain for the students she’ll be teaching. Michele ran the Outreach Program, bringing science and animals to the schools of the tri-state area for many years. Here's Michele with me.

Here is Michele with Naomi and Anita. All four of us had worked at the Academy and Anita still volunteers there.

                                                      Michele, Naomi and Anita
We had a going away party for Michele, but first they wanted to see our pond and our very large goldfish.

Here is my husband proudly showing off the pond

I have two apple trees and this is the first apple produced.

Anita did the honor of slicing the apple for us. The apple was very sweet and I hope to see many more on that tree. When we ordered the two apple trees from the catalogue, we were told that apples would be popping out the first year…six years later, we've only had the one.

I get a lot of butterflies, native honey bees and hummingbirds in my garden. Here is a butterfly. Anyone want to take a guess on what it is? Come on, take a guess.

I also get lots of finches at my bird feeder.

After dinner we had cake and gifts for Michele. I’m wishing you well in your new career.

Sunday, I decided to go to the Collingswood Arts and Craft fair

with my daughter and the youngest of her desperadoes, Nathan. He was not in a good mood, can you tell?

But we did get to shop at Pat Cunningham’s Busy Beads

and get ice cream from the Pop shop

And we did get to hear some great music from the band known as Foster Child.

But I had missed the Kelli Campbell Trio which had played on Saturday. Check them out, they are awesome.

Now we’ll jump to my adventures with publishing and Google. In today’s publishing world, the writer has to have a following, a persona if you like, on the internet. This means a blog, a twitter account, facebook, etc. etc. before publishing companies will even take a chance on you.

So, I have a blog which I try to update once a week and I have my Lilith Episodes which I post every Friday, but I also keep a daily presence on facebook

                                                              and twitter

I've met some interesting and amazing people,

I love it, but if you want publishers to see how serious you are about writing, you should also think about Google+

Now remember, I can’t walk and chew gum at the same time! I have a chance to get a story published and I was advised to build up my Google+ presence. There’s a Google+? Who knew? I’m still trying to figure out regular Google and recently someone mentioned Google Chrome. Help…I’m still looking for my lost webkin, Zeppie, on the Web. Has anyone seen him?

Anyway, if you do go on Google+ and you’re feeling kindly towards me, please follow me. I will appreciate this very much and will treat you to some delicious apples the next time they grow on my little apple tree.

Part Twenty-nine of Lilith's Escape

Edward stood completely still and thought to himself, “It’s a dragon, a damn frigging dragon.” He watched as the creature lowered its scaled head so that Lilith could pat its face.

“I’ve brought you an offering, although it isn’t much my love,” Lilith crooned to the massive reptile.

Edward was surprised to hear what sounded like a purring sound emanate from the animal. “Is this thing, tamed?” he asked her.

The dragon slowly turned its gaze to Edward and the purring sound changed immediately to a growl.

“Don’t anger him, Edward. You’re already on his shit list,” Lilith warned.

“Why, what have I done to him?”

“You can have me in a way that’s no longer possible for him.”

Lilith wrapped her arms around the dragon’s neck, lowered her face against its cheek and whispered into the animal’s ear.

Edward stared into the animal’s eyes and was shocked to see more than animal intelligence staring back at him. The sorrow, pain and loneliness in those eyes made Edward ask, “Who is this?”

“You remember me telling you that I ran away with an angel instead of staying with Adam?”

“Yes…?” Edward waited.

Lilith led the dragon to the corpse and stood back as the beast took hold of the dried up body that was once a living man. “This is my angel…this is his punishment…he can never return to his brothers and sisters, until I make things right.

Edward watched as the dragon sniffed at the body and shook its massive head. This was once an angel, probably content with his life, doing whatever angels are meant to do, but then… Lilith did have a way about her that made men and angels do stupid things. “I’m sorry for you old chap.” Edward reached out and patted the animal on its head.

The dragon huffed, blowing small wisps of dark smoke through its nostrils, but it nodded its head at Edward, as if in agreement. With the body clutched tightly in its mouth, it flapped its leathery wings and took off into the night sky.

“Are there any other cursed mystical beings that have fallen in love with you?” He meant this as a joke, maybe, but when he turned to face her, Lilith wasn’t smiling.

Flags, Birthdays, Cat Walks and the Smithville Inn

This week was a scorcher, but I don’t think I need to remind anyone on just how hot it was.

This type of weather makes us all tired and cranky and forces us to stay isolated inside an air-conditioned house, instead of outside in fresh air.

One of my fellow ghost hunting buddies, who happens to live up my street, came up with a great idea. Rita suggested that we hang our winter garden flags up as a kind of Voodoo method to call the cooler breezes our way.

Here is Rita and her snowman flag.

Here I am with my smaller flag.

Other neighbors liked this and our now thinking about hanging up their snowman flags. I’ll let you know if this works, we need to try something to fight climate change beside the fact that we should also cut down our carbon footprint.

The little girl that I babysit for turned three yesterday and I was at her big birthday bash. I’ve watched this little one since she was three months old and she now has claim to my heart as if she were a grandchild. Won't show you her picture, but she is as cute as

After the birthday party, I shot over to Deptford Mall where my grandson Nathan and his cousin Nicole were preparing for a talent show
They would get to perform and do a cat walk

They were contestants for the Audition America Talent Search. Nathan would be singing an Usher song and Nicole would do a dance routine. Here is my daughter signing Nathan up.

                              Nathan looking cool and calm

Sunday, I was up early and heading to a baby shower scheduled at the Historic Smithville Inn.

This inn was once a stop for the stage line from Cooper’s Landing (now Camden) to Leeds Point. A large red ball hung outside the Inn and when the ball was down, the stage coach would stop and pick up passengers, neat huh.J

The food served at the brunch was awesome and I would like to return with the hubby one day soon. There are lots of quaint little shops around the inn, but I didn’t bring my credit card.
Well that was my weekend. Send me a note and let me know what you did:)
