Our Slide into Hell: Night Will Fall: The Documentary

There are things that are hard to watch and this is coming from someone who loves horror stories and films. The other night I was flipping through my cable guide looking for something different to watch. Maybe, I shouldn’t have paused. Maybe, I should have watched whatever was playing on the Syfy channel, but I didn’t.

Night Will Fall is a documentary. It is a documentary that was carefully collected by British and American soldiers who were taught to be cameramen during the war in order to document, victories, defeats and this...this...horror that after all these years, the world still can’t comprehend. The Holocaust is an example of evil people doing evil things, but what frightened me more so about the documentary was the people who knew this was happening, lived close to concentration camps, and ignored the inhuman acts that were perpetrated behind those barbed wire fences.

Like I said, it is upsetting to watch because these films are the real thing. Truth is sometimes hard to look upon, the mirror not always kind when we really look at ourselves, but this documentary holds up in the telling. We need to thank Directors Sidney Bernstein and Alfred Hitchcock and, all the soldiers who recorded what they saw as they entered the camps.

We need to remember that keeping silent is just as horrid as committing the act. This is the trailer for the documentary. You can catch the documentary on HBO. This is the official site. http://www.hbo.com/documentaries/night-will-fall#/documentaries/night-will-fall

Episode Fifty-nine of Lilith's Escape

“The king of England and his people have fought the Illuminati tooth and nail. You might not recognize London because of the bombings, but the king has kept his people free.” Scouter’s revelation lifted the weight that was hanging over Edward ever since he arrived in this time and place.

“First good news I’ve had since arriving here. Is England the only place to survive?”

“Israel, Germany, the northern part of France, the Swiss, parts of Canada, and here in our country, several Native American tribes who have formed a resistance group at the Bitterroot Mountains,” Scouter replied.

“We’re ready, move it guys,” Rita, interrupted their conversation as she entered the area.

“Will you be okay?” Edward asked Rita.

“We’ll soon find out,” she bravely replied, but her expression told him otherwise.

After Edward, Scouter and Rita joined the others, Tzaddik gave the signal and the trek to a new location begun. Fear hung heavy in the air, and even the children were unusually silent. The plan was to move underground, using the subway system until they would eventually come above ground. The destination was a museum which was located in the southern part of Philadelphia, in a park known as the ‘Lakes’.

Episode Forty of Lilith's Escape

“He’s a friend,” Lilith replied to the couple who stood before her. The woman and man were both dressed in faded and torn military garb. Not immediately familiar with the uniform they wore; Edward looked for some form of insignia

and recognized the U.S. Marine badge on their camouflage clothing.

“I’m First Lieutenant Tom Bradley and this soldier here is First Sgt. Brenda Jones.” The male soldier put out his hand to Edward.

“It’s good to see that the Marines are in control,” Edward replied as he shook Bradley’s hand. Edward then extended his hand to First Sgt. Jones, but she kept her arms folded.

“You didn’t tell him?” Bradley asked Lilith. Edward picked up from the tone of the soldier’s voice that he was upset with Lilith.

“Did you finish questioning the prisoner?” Lilith asked ignoring the Lieutenant’s question.

“Yes, they’ve already begun to infect people with the blood.”

Lilith was visibly angry and stamped her right foot. She reminded Edward of a spoiled child every time she did this and he had to hide his grin from the others.

“Bring me to him,” she demanded. Lilith and Edward followed the others as they made their way deeper into the city.

They finally made their way down one of the stairways which led to the underground subway station.

It was a scene that Edward wasn’t expecting. The train that stood motionless on the rails was totally destroyed.

It was most likely due to a powerful explosive, but it was the burnt remains of the countless dead, scattered on the platform and throughout the torn and twisted metal that added to the nightmarish scene.

“When did this war start?” Edward asked Bradley.

Episode Thirty-six of Lilith's Escape

“So where in the future are we heading to?” Edward asked after climbing into the caddy.

“The year is 2024 and we’re going to the States,” Lilith replied and then pulled the car away from the curb and into the fast moving traffic.

“Is this where we hope to find Lazarus?”

“I’m hoping to arrive at a point in time where we might.”

Lilith drove until they had reached a small town outside of London. Driving onto a dirt road, she stopped the car and opened the door. “We need to change,” she said as climbed from the car.

Edward followed her to the trunk and after she took out the protective suits, he began to pull his silver colored suit over his clothing. “I’m curious as to why you need to wear this suit. You’re immortal, what could happen to you?” he asked.

As she zipped up the front of the suit she replied, “Time travel to the future without the protection of the suit, messes with my skin, temporarily wrinkles it and that’s something no woman wants to see.”

After suiting up, they both climbed back into the car.

She hit the gas pedal and the car lurched forward, slamming Edward against the seat. This time around, the ride seemed smoother, either that or he had adjusted to the gravitational pull as they raced forward in time.

When the car had reached its destination in time and space, Lilith slowed down to a complete stop. As Lilith switched off the car, Edward looked at the destruction around him and then out across the river. “Was there a war?” he asked her, his mind unable to rationalize the scene before him.

“Yes, a civil war.”

The Statue that he knew so well, that spoke of America’s greatness, the beacon for a free world, had been destroyed and only the bottom part of Lady Freedom remained.
