“What kind of civil war?” Edward asked as he stared at the destruction around him.
“A war started by the Illuminati between the wealthy and the poor. A war started to take the focus away from what was really happening.”
Edward watched as she climbed out of the car and headed to the trunk. He felt sick to his stomach and not because of the trip through time. If America had fallen prey to the immortals, then what shape would he find his beloved England in? He climbed out of the car and joined Lilith. He was silent as he removed his protective jumpsuit; his mind was on the wreckage around him.
“Edward, this is only the tip of the iceberg” she spoke softly, pulling him from his thoughts. She took his hand, kissed it and then held it against her heart, “The rest is much worse.”
“If we find Lazarus, will we be able to stop all of this?” He gestured with his free hand to the scene before them.
“Not all of this can be blamed on the Immortals or the Illuminati. The final choice is always left to man to do the right thing...free will is a double edged sword.”
“Can we stop it, any of it?”
“I think you know me well enough, by now.” She moved into his arms and brushed her lips against his. “I will do my best to save your species.”
