Being Human and Haunted Collector Recaps

                                                                        

I love the Syfy station and two of my favorite shows are Being Human and Haunted Collector. Being Human just ended season three with three cliffhangers, so we’ll start with them first, but I promise to make this quick and painless. Ready, set. Go!

                                                                         

Sally the ghost is alive and back inside her own body after Josh and Nora go to visit Donna the Witch. Good news, right? Wrong, with Donna the witch, it’s the hidden information on the contract that will come back to haunt Sally.
                                                                      

Sally and her two ghost buddies are having a blast with their second chance at life. There’s one little problem, if someone from your past sees you, they die and Donna gets to eat their soul. To save her brother’s life, Sally promises her soul to Donna.
                                                                                

Soon, Sally and her friends begin to rot, yep just like zombies. To keep from rotting, they must eat fresh kill, be it human or rodent. Donna gets the souls of Sally’s ghost friends, but Sally, with the help of Aidan and Josh, escapes...or so she thinks. Sally dies again and Donna is not out of the picture.
                                                                               

 
Josh killed his maker and is no longer a werewolf, but in a battle to save Aidan’s life, Liam bites Josh. If that wasn’t enough, vampires are drinking the blood of werewolves to survive the deathly results of tainted human blood.
                                                                             

Why is human blood tainted? It has to do with the flu, but werewolf blood is the cure. Liam won’t leave Nora and Josh alone, even bothering them on their honeymoon. Yes, lovely wedding and Sally, back to being a ghost, was a bridesmaid.
                                                                                    

                                        

After Liam is dead, Nora and Josh go back to celebrating their honeymoon and Josh’s first werewolf change…but he’s not a nice one; has Liam bloodline now. Are you dizzy yet, no?
                                                                      

Last one. Aidan and all the other vampires are dying from the lack of untainted blood. Aidan is caring for Kenny, a bubble boy (no, not someone from Fox News) who is unable to live outside of a sterile tent. The teen is sick of living in a sterilized world and begs Aidan to change him. Aidan changes Kenny and gives him blood enhanced with werewolf blood. What Aidan didn’t know is the werewolf blood does more harm than good. After promising Josh that he will kill Kenny because Kenny tried to drink Nora dry, Aidan instead lets the boy live. Aidan comes home, only to see someone who looks exactly like his wife Suzanna, from the Revolutionary war, step out of a taxi. 
                                                                                       

                                                                                           
Is this the real Suzanna, or a descendant ? Okay, I told you it would be quick,  but I left a lot out, so if you want the slow version, watch the show on demand.

                                                                            

Okay now on to the last episode of Haunted Collector, where John Zaffis and his team arrive at the historic Emmett House in Waverly Ohio.
                                                                         

The new owner Ashley Anthony has been frightened by paranormal activity ever since she began restoring the Inn.  It started when the owners found a boot, pouch holding a white powder and a tattered infant’s dress. John sends the powder out to be identified and they learn that the powder is a French salt used in the past to fight infections.
                                                                               

John and his team set up their equipment and see a small hurricane of smoke over the floorboards of one of the rooms. When they investigate they find a lace handmaid’s veil wrapped around a small box holding patches. The patches were used by victims of small pox to cover the scars.
                                                                                

The original owner of the house John Emmett, Ohio’s first millionaire, lost two young children to the disease. John Zaffis take all the items and brings them back to his museum and the new owners have no further problems with unwanted guests.

The second part of the story takes place in Brighton Michigan and Corey Moore is the person who calls in the team. There have been several deaths in the family and Corey moved in with his mother Pam to help her. One night he took a stroll through the town cemetery and found a strange coin. 
                                                                            

The problems began when he brought the coin home. Pam is the target of whatever spirit has been introduced into the home. The spirit is attacking Pam and leaving scratches and bruises on her arm. 
                                                                                 

John and his team set up the cameras and……this is scary……especially since I’ve had encounters with this type of haunting….but on the camera, you the viewer see the dark shadow appear out of nowhere and slide over the sleeping Pam. In her sleep, she rolls over to her side to get away.
                                                                          

 John Zaffis does his research and learns that the coin is the culprit. It belonged to a traveling circus and there was a horrible accident in 1903 when two of the circus trains crashed right there in Brighton, killing 26 people who were then buried in the local cemetery. John takes the coin to his museum and the attacks on Pam stop. Go on demand and watch this episode.

Conclusion

Most hauntings occur when an object that is haunted is brought into your house. John Zaffis has to do a special binding ceremony to keep the objects in his museum from attacking any visitors that enter his museum. Just recently, a friend of mine purchased some antique funeral home objects and is now is experiencing ghostly visits. I’ll be checking this out and maybe…I’ll write about it.

Grimm's Monster of the Week: Ziegevolk

                                                                        

I swear this show just keeps getting better and better. There were several plots going on at the same time, so hang on to your hats and try to keep up with me. Ready, set, go!

Juliette

Monroe and Nick are finally settling in as roomies. Nick asks Monroe for a big favor. Take Juliette to the trailer to help jog her memory. Monroe, the ever gentle wesson, is hesitant to get involved in the soap opera love life of his friend, but he finally agrees to the favor. When Monroe takes Juliette to the trailer, she does begin to remember that she was here before with Nick, good, right? Wrong, she is confused and frightened by all the weapons and potions.
                                                                        

 Plus she’s hit with multi visions and multi Nicks talking at her. Upset, she and runs out of the trailer. Nick is crushed by the update from Monroe. My opinion; Juliette’s a fool. Nick is such a hunk muffin, that I wouldn’t mind a few of him hanging out with me.

                                                                      

Crime

Don Nidaria is a Portland Socialite and weson (lion) who is on trial for killing his wife, also a weson (mouse). Don the poster child for control freak and spousal abuse threw his wife over the balcony and to her death in front of a witness (the maid). But the killer has a slimy lawyer who is also a weson (Ziegevolk) This lawyer eats toads to enhance his power to control the thinking of the jury and witnesses.
                                                                                   

                                                                   
What does this have to do with our team? Plenty Rosalee is on the jury and after being exposed to Lawyer Barry Kellogg’s psycho hallucinogenic mind tampering, she feels ill and this is how Monroe finds her when he returns from the trailer.

                                                                       

Court

Monroe is court the next day observing the trial and becomes suspicious when the maid changes her testimony, after saying she witnessed Mr. Nidaria kill his wife. He follows the lawyer to the restroom and witnesses unobserved, the lawyer eat a toad. Monroe tells Nick and Hank and the next day all three are in the courtroom. Sgt. Wu is on the witness stand. He was the officer in charge when the case was called in and feels that Nidaria is a killer, but…after the toad essence from the sweat of the lawyer hits him, he changes his testimony. Knowing that they have to stop the jury tampering, Rosalee tells the guys that she needs the lawyer’s sweat to add to a potion and inject into one of the toads that the lawyer will eat the day of the trial.

The Plan

In a series of events that reminded me of the Keystone Cops, Monroe, Nick, Hank and a wesson friend trick Barry Kellogg into thinking he’s being attacked by a mugger. He runs away like the chicken shit that he is and right into the wesson friend of Nick’s who offers to give him a ride home. The lawyer is sweating and the weson offers him a clean cloth handkerchief (If you’re too young to know what this is then ask your grandparents) to wipe his face. The trick works and our team now has the secret ingredient to stop the Ziegevolk from allowing a murderer to escape. There is one little problem. How to get the potion into the toad?

                                                                 

Keystone Cops part 2

The last day of the trial and the jury’s verdict, Nick and Hank go to Barry Kellogg’s apartment to question him on the mugger attack. While they keep him busy, Monroe sneaks in to inject the toad with the potion, but there is one little problem; there are two toads. Monroe has to pick one toad to inject, but the toad escapees and he has to catch it while Nick and Hank do everything in their power to keep the lawyer from catching on. This was too funny. Monroe does catch and inject the toad, but will the Ziegevolk eat the right one? I’m not tellingJ You have to watch the show.

Juliette part 2

Juliette contacts the wise woman who told her that the cat’s scratch was a curse and asks for her help in stopping the multi visions of multi Nicks? Let’s hope that the shaman doesn’t mess up the love birds even more than they are.

Adalind

Adalind is trying to seduce Eric, Renard’s half-brother, but Eric is only interested in the key. Adalind has failed to deliver what she was ordered to do and Eric threatens to inform the Grimm (Nick) who Renard really is. Adalind looks especially stunning tonight and Eric is curious as to why there is a glow about her. Can he tell that she’s pregnant? Don’t know.

                                                                  

Conclusion

Eric is unaware that Nick already knows the secret identity of Renard, which might help Renard survive his brother's treachery. Adalind may have bit off more than she can chew, siding with the evil Eric. I enjoy the scenes where Monroe and Hank help Nick fight the bad guys, be it human or wesson. Make sure to mark Friday night’s on you to watch list and make sure it’s NBC at 9 p.m.

Mega-Bad-Movie Night & The Academy of Natural Sciences

                                                                      

     

For all my geek and non-geek friends who are not familiar with the events hosted by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University on 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, listen up! Besides offering the general public great exhibits, live animals, live butterflies, dioramas, science and research, the Academy offers an event for adults, called Mega-Bad-Movie Night.
                                                                           

If you remember Mystery Theater 3000, then you know where I’m going with this. For the small price of 15 dollars, you get food, drinks (wine and beer at the cash bar), and a chance to check out the museum before the start of the movie.

                                                                         

Last night’s show was Dinocroc vs. Supergator, a Roger Corman film starring John Carradine as Jason Drake, Corey Landis as Paul Beaumont, Amy Rasimus as Cassidy Swanson, John Callahan as Charlie Swanson, and Rib Hillis as the “Cajun.”
                                                                           
 This show was your typical Roger Corman film (I love this man) with your typical scantily clad bimbos, muscle men, evil scientists, heroes, lots of guns and bombs, and anatomically incorrect dinosaurs. By the middle of the show, the audience was cheering whenever the Dinocroc or Supergator snacked on one of the actors.

                                                                       

This was a bad, bad movie, but that’s the whole point of the event. What makes this a fun filled night is the commentary that takes place throughout the film. No, we don’t have Tom Servo, Crow T. Robot or Gypsy,
                                                                                  

but Jason Poole, Dinosaur Hall Coordinator, and Paul Callomon, Collections Manager of Malacology, along with Mike Kaczmarcik, Teacher Naturalist and Outreach Manager did just as well if not better than MSt3K, at firing off comments to the audience, with one slight difference, with our commentators, we got some interesting scientific facts.  

                                                                         

This whole event is pull together by Jill Sybesma, Adults Program Manager. She and many of the Academy Staff entertain the guests before the movie begins by displaying some of the specimens from the Academy’s large research collection, and by showing off the animals from the Live Animal Unit. Last night we met an alligator and a snake.

                                                                           

The next Mega Bad Movie Night will be on June 27^th and will feature Paul Callomon and Teri Scott, Senior Marketing Manager. The movie and the third commentator will be announced. Take my word on this, we all deserve a fun night out and with Mega-Bad-Movie Night, you won’t be disappointed.

Episode Sixty-one of Lilith's Escape

                                                                 

It was dusk by the time the caravan climbed out of the subway station at Pattison Ave. They at least could use the cover of the trees and bushes to keep them hidden from the drones, which frequently flew over the city looking for resistance fighters, but if there were zombies in the area, the very same trees and bushes would also endanger the living from seeing the shuffling dead in time.

                                                            

Rita was making her way back towards Edward and Bradley. As she waddled towards them, Edward wondered how she was doing; she looked so huge, so uncomfortable. “Lilith will lead with Tzaddik bringing up the rear with a few of the soldiers,” she told the men.

“Where do you want us?” Bradley asked.

“The three of us, along with some of the women, will protect the inner circle.” The inner circle she was mentioning was the children, the group’s most important cargo.

“Will you be alright…uh…you know?” Edward was attempting to be polite in pointing out the obvious.

“I’ll be fine. Just call me Wonder Woman,” Rita teased, but her expression revealed how worried she really was.

Edward could see Lilith at the front, near to the steps leading out of the subway. She was pointing to something on a map that Jones was holding in her hand.
                                                                   

 She must have sensed his eyes on her, because she glanced towards his direction and smiled. Edward and Lilith needed to talk, to touch base and maybe mend fences, that's if they made it to the museum, alive.
