Grimm: The Law of Sacrifice

 

                                                                         

Last night’s episode had Renard ready to die for his child and Adalind. While Nick and Renard peacefully discuss the best place for Adalind & the child to hide, Kelly observes a wesen F.B.I Agent giving orders to wesen assassins to take the child. Kelly is a Grimm Ninja Warrior and I love how easily she can take down an enemy. There is a big shoot out, and Nick helps Renard and Adalind escape for the time being, but where can Nick and Renard hide the mother and child? With the Royal Prince and his cohorts already on the way to Portland, Nick knows of only one haven.

                                                                          

Poor Monroe and Rosalee are getting it on hot and heavy when they receive a call from Nick. In one of the funniest conference calls, ever! Nick asks Monroe if he can bring a few guests to stay at his house. Monroe is a good friend and ally to Nick, and of course he says yes. I’ve never seen Monroe refuse Nick any request. But it is Monroe’s relationship to Rosalee and how they handle Nick’s constant requests for help (some of which are quite strange) that make this show work. No one can say that Monroe and Rosalee don’t have a sense of humor.

                                                                  

Rosalee and Monroe are now babysitting the woman not only responsible for Juliette’s coma, but also Nick’s Aunt Marie’s death. Kelly is also staying at the house guarding mother and child which is pretty funny since it was Kelly who, unknown to Adalind, killed Adalind’s mother. Monroe’s and Rosalee’s tiptoeing through this tricky wicket is priceless. But, not everyone is smiling.

                                                                                 

The Prince shows up at the police station and flat out tells Renard that he will kill everyone unless he is given the child. See, it’s not that Eric loves the child, but that he wants to use her power to control the world. He’s a creep.

                                                                         

There is only one way to save this baby and it’s heartbreaking but necessary. Renard tricks Adalind into handing over the baby to him while she makes a police report on what occurred when they were attacked earlier in the night. It isn’t until she finds Kelly in the interrogation room that she realizes she’s been duped. Renard hands the infant over to the Prince.

                                                                              

Adalind sees the limo drive off with her baby and you can feel her loss. It was a very sad scene. The Prince never gets the baby onto the plane and back to Europe because on route to the airport, heavily armed rebels steal the child from him. I was very upset with the outcome and especially because that poor baby’s situation went from bad to worse. Would she be killed?

                                                                        

                                                                

A truck drives down a lonely road with Kelly at the wheel and beside her, the child. Although Renard was in on the rescue of the child with the help of Nick, Monroe, Kelly and Hank, he will never know the child’s whereabouts. It’s safer that way. Kelly will protect that child with her life and there is a bond between the Ninja Grimm and the Wesen princess, but it was Adalind’s cries of grief for her missing baby that stayed with me long after the show ended.

Holy Shape shifters! Grimm was awesome last night. Adalind has a daughter and regains her powers. Adalind’s baby is showing off her own accomplishments, so let’s pray that we won’t have too much competition between mother and daughter fighting for power.

                                                                           

                                                                 Sgt. Wu with Sam

An Aswang Ate My Baby was all about Sgt. Wu (Reggie Lee), one of my favorite characters on the show, coming face to face with a nasty mythical creature that likes to eat unborn babies. Sgt. Wu’s childhood friend, Dana is pregnant with her first child. When Sgt. Wu is called to his friend’s house after she is attacked and found bleeding by her neighbor, we realize that Wu’s feelings run deeper than friendship, with Dana.

The creature that attacked Dana is called an Aswang, and it’s one of the scariest creatures I’ve seen on Grimm. Scared the hell out of me!  This creature reminded me of Gollum from the Lord of the Rings, but only nastier. This creature shoves its long pointy tongue through a women’s belly button to suck out the amniotic fluid and eventually the child. Yuck big time!

Wu is suspicious of Dana’s husband, Sam, but he can’t put his finger on why, so he calls in Nick and Hank. Nick and Hank figure out that Dana’s husband Sam, although not responsible for her attack, is related to the attacker. Yes, Sam and his family are Aswangs, but mommy dearest needs the life-force of her son’s first born child in order to live a longer life. Nick and Hank disagree on telling Sgt. Wu what he is really dealing with, and Nick’s refusal to warn Sgt. Wu has dire consequences.

                                                                           

 

Luckily mommy dearest is killed, but not before attacking Dana and Sgt. Wu when he comes to her rescue. At the end of the show, Dana, Sam and fetus are doing fine, but Wu is not. He’s institutionalized and living in constant terror of his memories of fighting the creature .

                                                                       

 

This is one time that Hank should have been more forceful in his conviction to tell Sgt. Wu everything, but, Nick made the wrong choice and lost a friend.

Game of Thrones and a Zombified Grimm

                                                                           

In my last post about Game of Thrones, I wrote about Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and how much I love this character. Last night we watched her work her magic again; she has a new admirer and supporter, Daario Naharis (Ed Skrein), a leader with The Second Sons, who eliminated his two comrades after they ordered him to kill Daenerys.

                                                                          

Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) was married to Sansa Stark (Sophia Turner); a forced marriage for both, but Tyrion was a gentleman and Sansa is still virgin.

                                                                              

Good thing too, because Sansa’s handmaid, Shae (Sibel Kekilli) would have killed him; Tyrion and Shae are lovers and soul mates.

                                                                      

                                           

Although Daenerys holds the title of “Kick Ass Heroine” there is a second runner up.

                                                                                  

 Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) a warrior and knight of the house of Tarth is charged with the chore of returning Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau safely to his home in exchange for the two Stark daughters, Sansa and Arya (Maisie Williams). Over time Brienna and Jaime form a friendship based on respect and understanding, but there might be feelings there that neither are aware of, yet.

                                                                               

 Last week, Brienne was in a fight for her life with a huge grizzly bear as entertainment for her captors, but Jaime risked his freedom and very life to go back and save her. Will respect turn to love? I would love to see Brienne and Jaime together.

                                                                       

Grimm

Season finale will have zombies and you know I’ll be watching the show. Baron Samedi (Reg E. Cathey) a Wesen creature known as a Cracher Mortel is using his lethal saliva to create an undead army.

                                                                               

 Grimm (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) need to fine the Baron and fast. While this is going on Rosalee (Bree Turner) and Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) introduce Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) to the world of Wesen creatures. Make sure you watch this on Tuesday night on NBC at 10 p.m.

Grimm's Monster of the Week: Ziegevolk

                                                                        

I swear this show just keeps getting better and better. There were several plots going on at the same time, so hang on to your hats and try to keep up with me. Ready, set, go!

Juliette

Monroe and Nick are finally settling in as roomies. Nick asks Monroe for a big favor. Take Juliette to the trailer to help jog her memory. Monroe, the ever gentle wesson, is hesitant to get involved in the soap opera love life of his friend, but he finally agrees to the favor. When Monroe takes Juliette to the trailer, she does begin to remember that she was here before with Nick, good, right? Wrong, she is confused and frightened by all the weapons and potions.
                                                                        

 Plus she’s hit with multi visions and multi Nicks talking at her. Upset, she and runs out of the trailer. Nick is crushed by the update from Monroe. My opinion; Juliette’s a fool. Nick is such a hunk muffin, that I wouldn’t mind a few of him hanging out with me.

                                                                      

Crime

Don Nidaria is a Portland Socialite and weson (lion) who is on trial for killing his wife, also a weson (mouse). Don the poster child for control freak and spousal abuse threw his wife over the balcony and to her death in front of a witness (the maid). But the killer has a slimy lawyer who is also a weson (Ziegevolk) This lawyer eats toads to enhance his power to control the thinking of the jury and witnesses.
                                                                                   

                                                                   
What does this have to do with our team? Plenty Rosalee is on the jury and after being exposed to Lawyer Barry Kellogg’s psycho hallucinogenic mind tampering, she feels ill and this is how Monroe finds her when he returns from the trailer.

                                                                       

Court

Monroe is court the next day observing the trial and becomes suspicious when the maid changes her testimony, after saying she witnessed Mr. Nidaria kill his wife. He follows the lawyer to the restroom and witnesses unobserved, the lawyer eat a toad. Monroe tells Nick and Hank and the next day all three are in the courtroom. Sgt. Wu is on the witness stand. He was the officer in charge when the case was called in and feels that Nidaria is a killer, but…after the toad essence from the sweat of the lawyer hits him, he changes his testimony. Knowing that they have to stop the jury tampering, Rosalee tells the guys that she needs the lawyer’s sweat to add to a potion and inject into one of the toads that the lawyer will eat the day of the trial.

The Plan

In a series of events that reminded me of the Keystone Cops, Monroe, Nick, Hank and a wesson friend trick Barry Kellogg into thinking he’s being attacked by a mugger. He runs away like the chicken shit that he is and right into the wesson friend of Nick’s who offers to give him a ride home. The lawyer is sweating and the weson offers him a clean cloth handkerchief (If you’re too young to know what this is then ask your grandparents) to wipe his face. The trick works and our team now has the secret ingredient to stop the Ziegevolk from allowing a murderer to escape. There is one little problem. How to get the potion into the toad?

                                                                 

Keystone Cops part 2

The last day of the trial and the jury’s verdict, Nick and Hank go to Barry Kellogg’s apartment to question him on the mugger attack. While they keep him busy, Monroe sneaks in to inject the toad with the potion, but there is one little problem; there are two toads. Monroe has to pick one toad to inject, but the toad escapees and he has to catch it while Nick and Hank do everything in their power to keep the lawyer from catching on. This was too funny. Monroe does catch and inject the toad, but will the Ziegevolk eat the right one? I’m not tellingJ You have to watch the show.

Juliette part 2

Juliette contacts the wise woman who told her that the cat’s scratch was a curse and asks for her help in stopping the multi visions of multi Nicks? Let’s hope that the shaman doesn’t mess up the love birds even more than they are.

Adalind

Adalind is trying to seduce Eric, Renard’s half-brother, but Eric is only interested in the key. Adalind has failed to deliver what she was ordered to do and Eric threatens to inform the Grimm (Nick) who Renard really is. Adalind looks especially stunning tonight and Eric is curious as to why there is a glow about her. Can he tell that she’s pregnant? Don’t know.

                                                                  

Conclusion

Eric is unaware that Nick already knows the secret identity of Renard, which might help Renard survive his brother's treachery. Adalind may have bit off more than she can chew, siding with the evil Eric. I enjoy the scenes where Monroe and Hank help Nick fight the bad guys, be it human or wesson. Make sure to mark Friday night’s on you to watch list and make sure it’s NBC at 9 p.m.

Grimm's Monster of the Week: Fuchsteufelwild

                                                                    

Try saying that three times! Last night’s show centered around three different situations. At the start of the show we find ourselves at a big celebration for an online game corporation. The game they’re celebrating is called Black Forest. Two of the people responsible for making oodles of noodles (money) for the company Jenna and Brody sneak away into one of the offices to get some private one on one. Jenna hears a noise, is worried that they’re being watched and leaves Brody alone in the office. Brody is attacked by a creature called a Fuchsteufelwild, who has sharp claws that drip acid. Jenna who heard the commotion returns to find her boyfriend sliced in half and a message written in blood, “Play the game”.  Nick and his team are called in.

                                                                     

Over at Nick’s house, Juliette is still dealing with spirits. She sees a vision of a soaking wet Nick, but when she goes to touch this spirit, it disappears. Why she doesn’t call Nick, I’ll never know, but she goes to visit Rosalee and Monroe at the Spice Shop to ask for help. They go over her house for dinner and this time, she sees a vision of Nick reading a very old book. Rosalee and Monroe don’t see a thing, but they do believe that these visions might be connected to the potion that all three (Nick, Juliette and Renard) drank to break a curse put on Juliette. Somehow, Monroe lets it slip that Juliette vision of Nick, may be connected to Aunt Marie’s trailer, which Nick inherited. Juliette wants to go to the trailer, and Monroe is between a rock and a hard place. If he takes her to the trailer, he’s betraying Nick’s secret, but if he doesn’t, Juliette will leave town.

                                                                    

Renard is having his own adventure. He makes plans to meet one of his informers for a secret meeting, not realizing that his informer is being followed. He learns from his informer that his brother and six other royal families are trying to dissolve the union and that is not good for the humans. When Renard notices that he and the informer are being watched, he goes after the spy and at the same time notices the bomb. Renard grabs the bag and tosses it out into the street, saving everyone’s life in the restaurant. He then gets into a shoot-out with the spy.

                                                                   

Nick, Hank and Sgt. Wu learn from Dominic (the head of the company) that Jenna’s ex-boyfriend might be responsible for the murder, but when Nick and his team go to investigate they realize the man is innocent, but they learn that Brody’s character in the game of Black Forest was also cut in half by a game player known as Nameless. The killer then slices and dices a female friend of Jenna’s and this time leaves three title pages from three different books. It’s another clue, but what does it mean?

                                                                   

Sgt. Wu

This was Sgt. Wu’s night to shine. He figures out that the three books were written under the author’s pseudonyms or non-de-plumes. They get the list of players from Dominic and then Sgt. Wu, using a Sudoku clue (that the killer left with the second murder victim) finds out the real name of the killer and why he’s going after Jenna. He was the tech who helped fix their program when it crashed and not only fixed it, but improved it, but he was never given credit for his work, hence the name “Nameless”. Like I said this was Sgt. Wu’s night to shine and he’s almost killed when the team set a trap for Nameless. When Nick and Hank chase the man onto the roof, he jumps to his death.

Conclusion

I love when a show allows a supporting character to grow in his or her role. Congrats to Sgt. Wu for solving the case, but we’ll need to give Monroe a hug because he’s the one who has to break the news to Nick; Tell Juliette the truth or she’s gone for good. I love this show and I know you will too. So join me on Friday nights at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Grimm and the Creature of the Week

                                                                     

Another great night on T.V. thanks to the people at NBC. Good going, team.

Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Guintoli) had his hands full with a particularly nasty critter on this week’s episode, Mr. Sandman. To fight this monster Nick will need the help of his friends, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Monroe’s girlfriend Rosalee (Bree Turner) and Nick’s partner, Hank (Russell Hornsby.

                                                                     

Fly Man

The story begins with a very handsome man, Andre (Kierea Hutchinson) who’s originally from South Africa who drives his red and white 1959 Cadillac (I just love this car) to a grief center.

                                                                                 

He joins the group and later offers to drive a woman, who is grieving over the death of her brother, home. But it’s not because he’s a nice guy, no way, my little Scooby Snack; he’s a giant fly called a Jinnamuru Xunte. What he needs from this woman is her tears and when she begins to cry about her brother’s death, Andre goes to work. He blows a reddish mist into her eyes, which causes extreme pain and then he uses his long sticky fly tongue (double yuck) to lick her eyes, causing the woman to go blind. In her panic, she accidently pulls a heavy bookcase down on herself and dies.

                                                                    

River Blindness

When Nick, Hank and Sgt. Wu go to investigate, they have no idea what they’re dealing with until a second woman, Molly (Megan Henning) is attacked and this time the medical examiner, Dr. Harper (Sharon Sachs) is able to compare the results on both victims. They have red blood worms in their eyes due to an infestation that you can only get in Africa, river blindness, but neither the dead woman or the second victim were ever in Africa. Luckily for Nick, the second woman was saved by her sister Casey (Jenny Wade) who gave a good description of the man and the car that he was driving. Nick heads to his trailer with Monroe and Hank and they look through all the monster books until they find a picture of Fly Man.

Juliette and Rosalee

Juliette not only has to deal with the mother of all sink holes, but now she’s seeing ghosts. She goes to the Spice Shop to ask for Rosalee’s help. Rosalee goes home with Juliette, but doesn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Are these visions due to the magic potion that Juliette and Renard had to drink to break the curse?

                                                                      

Nick

Fly Man, to avoid capture, sprays Nick with the red mist, but before he can lick Nick’s eyes, Hank and Sgt. Wu come to the rescue. Nick is blind and time is short so Monroe and Hank take Nick back to the Spice Shop where Rosalee tries to find a cure. Guess what the cure is? They have to dig out one of the Fly Man’s eyes and make a paste to apply to Nick’s eyes. Are you grossed out yet? I am!

                                                                    

To make a long story short, they follow Fly Man back to Molly and Casey’s house where Fly Man is waiting to attack the sister. Things go from bad to worse for Fly Man. Rosalee makes the past to save Nick’s eyesight and Casey gets revenge for her sister.

Conclusion

This show was really good this week, especially with the three different story lines. Three, you ask? Oh, yeah, we learn that Adalind is definitely pregnant, but she’s not sure who the father is. It could be Renard’s or his half-brother’s baby. Tune in next week to find out who the new monster of the week is. Grimm can be seen on Friday nights at 9 p.m. on NBC.
