Game of Thrones: Breaker of Chains

One of my favorite GOT characters is in trouble. Poor Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) is locked up in a cold damp dungeon waiting to be tried for murder; a murder he did not commit. When his loyal servant brings food and news, Tyrion is surprised to learn that Princess Sansa is missing. Where could she be?

Tyrion knows his father, Tywin could give two shits about him, but what about Jaime? Jaime and Tyrion were bonding. Is this brotherly love lost now that the little snot nose King Joffrey is deader than a doorknob? Tyrion doesn’t think Cersei responsible for the boy’s poisoning. I was surprised that he thought her innocent of such a deed. I don’t. If Joffrey’s marriage was consummated with Margaery, then power hungry Cersei would have been delegated to the broom closet and, she also had to marry that brother of Margaery; ouch! I’m sticking with Cersei as one of the suspects. Little Finger, who has arranged for Sansa’s rescue is another suspect, or he could have the hots for the young red head. The only people I feel sorry for in this episode is Margaery, Tyrion and of course the new boy king, Tommen. He looks like a gentle child, but he's in a nest of vipers.

Jaime, you dirty dog, what were you thinking when you forced yourself on Cersei, and with your dead son laying right there? Inbreeding doesn’t produce lovable offspring in your family.

You should be concentrating on helping your brother, especially with your father picking the jury. Wait! Maybe Jaime was interrogating Cersei…yeah that’s what he was doing. Whatever! I want him and the Ninja Warrior, Brienne to get together.
Tyrion is a good soul, not perfect mind you, but a good soul and he knowingly sent Podrick away losing the only person willing to testify in his favor. He sent Shae away too, but only to protect her from his sister. Tyrion needs to make friends with someone who owns dragons.

Speaking of dragons and the perfect segway to another of my GOT characters, yep I’m talking the Dragon Goddess herself. I love Daenerys. She may surround herself with a powerful army and wise advisors, but it is she who calls the shots…and she does it with such class. I loved when her army began to fling crates of slave collars over the wall. Daenerys showed a sense of humor with her subtle message to the people of Mereen that it might be a great idea for them to surrender.

Things are not looking good for the Knights of Castle Black.  Jon Snow and the other knights are in big trouble. The Wildings and their new BFF’s the cannibalistic Thenn are marching closer to the wall. Samwell, thinking he was protecting his lady love, Gilly, and her baby, takes her to a nearby town where she’ll be safe. He has her stay at a brothel. Men can be so stupid sometimes.

The Hound and Arya make friends and then rob them, well technically, it was the Hound. A farmer and his daughter take in the ragamuffins, feed them and then give them a place to stay. The Hound, who has not learned how to play nice with friends or use a tissue, robs the kind farmer. Oh well! I had such high hopes for the Hound.

Stannis Baratheon has learned of Joffrey’s death and he wants to make his move before everyone forgets him. Is there a reason the little princess, Shireen, is kept locked away. She’s so much smarter than the adults around her.

That’s it folks! You have my review of the show, but if you want to know more, go on HBO’s demand. I’m wondering if King Joffrey’s funeral will go better than his wedding?

Game of Thrones: Wedding

Holy bloody matrimony! In the land of fire and ice, marriages can be detrimental to your health. While wedding preparations were going on at Kings landing, we learn that Ramsey Snow is still at his sadistic games. I really hate this character. He releases his hounds on a poor maiden and laughs while she is torn apart.

Theon Greyjoy, who is a shell of a man in ways both physical and mental, is now called Reek. Roose Bolton is not happy with Ramsey’s treatment of Theon, but Ramsey has a ‘get out of jail’ card. Reek under torture reveals that Bran and his younger brother are alive, and now Roose wants the boys hunted down.

Bran Stark, who is mind melding with wolves, befriends a tree and receives a message. “Go north and look for me under the tree.” Unless this is one of the Ents from the Hobbit, I’m wondering if the tree is giving the right directions. Bran, Rickon and the rest of the merry band of misfits head north.
Dragonstone Island
Never say three is a crowd with this group. The scene opens with Stannis Baratheon and his black magic witchy woman, Melisandre are having themselves a barbeque with the neighboring heretics. It’s either Melisandre’s god or death.

What a strange arrangement between Selyse and the red witch. It seems they don’t mind sharing the bed with Stannis, but Selyse does want hubby to crack down on the poor princess, Shireen. This poor kid can’t get a break. She has a birthmark that covers the entire left side of her face and now she has to listen to the red witch teach religion.
Kings Landing

And now it’s time for the wedding between spoiled rotten, sadistic, Joffrey and kind and gentle Margaery. Tyrion is warned that his true love is in danger and he is forced to send Shae away, leaving us to share in their  heartbreak.

While Tyrion and Jamie bond and chat about their futures under the king, Cersei is taking her disappointment over being the former queen regent out on others. She disses Brienne and guesses correctly that Brienne is in love with Jaime. When Margaery tells the servants to give any left-over food to the poor, Cersei secretly directs them to throw the food to the dogs. What a bitch! She should run for Congress; she hates the poor as much as they do.

Joffrey is sullen during the festivities except when he’s doing harm to others. He trashes Tyrion’s gift, a book of the history of kings and he takes glee in embarrassing Tyrion in front of the other guests. As much as I hate the character and think he is truly the apple of his mother’s tree, I love the young actor, Jack Gleeson. This kid has made every fan of Game of Thrones want to personally throttle him with our bare hands, which is what he was supposed to do and he did it so deliciously.
Conclusion
It wasn’t the Red Wedding, but it will be remembered as the wedding of excesses. Money was spent on lavish buffoonery, while the poor starved in the streets. Joffrey was poisoned and Tyrion is blamed. What will happen to Margaery, Brienne, Sansa, and Tyrion? No one is safe at Kings Landing. Oh, and you might as well keep the wedding gift. It won’t be needed

Game of Thrones is Back

Holy mother of dragons! Game of Thrones was well worth the wait and we can expect season 4 to be one of intrigue, action, and backroom deals. Jaime is back at home with his family, but they are more like strangers after his long stay away from home.

Tywin will never win any awards for father of the year, but his disrespectful attitude towards his older son, Jamie is right out shameful. What is it with some men that they have to put their children down at every opportunity, jealous of any success their children obtain in spite of the father's mistreatment. I actually know a few men like this. When their sons are old enough, they move away and cut off contact. I don't blame them.

Cersei is no better than daddy dearest and openly scoffs at Jaime’s loss of a body part. What a bitch. She is no better than her son. There is a moral compass missing in mother and son...and speaking of sonny boy, Joffrey; I'm surprised he hasn't been strangled in his sleep.
Joffrey, more like mommy dearest with each passing day, shows the same contempt for Jaime. This is a cruel child who likes to torture people.

I'm not sure how many slaves he's killed so far, but the number of people who want this sociopath dead, is growing.

Thankfully, for Jamie, he has a comrade in the Ninja warrior, Lady Brienne of Tarth.  She understands Jamie for what he is and yet she still likes him. She has seen him at his best.  I really do think that a lasting friendship was forged with these two and maybe it will develop into love.

I was surprised that Margaery and her grandmother Olenna Tyrell have welcomed Lady Brienne with open arms, but why not? You and I both know the hatred all three share for the sociopathic boy king. I'm hoping Margery's plan is to take over the throne as soon as she slips Joffrey some poison. One can only dream.

Tyrion is a good man, but despised by his family because of his stature. He's a better man than all of them and he's sexy too. He cares for the bride that was forced on him even though Sansa has withdrawn into her own little world because of the brutal slaying of her brother and mother.

Poor Tyrion is given the task of welcoming Oberyn Martell, a Danish prince who hates everything Lannister. Luckily for Tyrion, Bronn has his back.

The Hound is keeping Arya Stark safe. A strange bond between the two has been forged and for better or worse, I think, The Hound is loyal bound to this child. Where this leads the two, I'm not sure, but on first episode of the season, Arya with The Hound's help has taken her revenge against the man who took her sword.

Jon Snow is back on the wall and forgiven by Master Aemon. Ygritte on the other hand, is still pissed off at the crow man for leaving her. She and Thormund  have befriended the giant cannibals in their quest for revenge....that's if they don't wind up as a light snack for the Thenn.

I saved my most favorite character for last. I love Daenerys Targaryen! With Sir Jorah and Daario Naharis at her side and her army of Unsullied behind her, she is a force to be feared and that's not counting the dragons.

She'll need her dragons to give the slave owners of Meeren an ass kicking. These slave owners don't know who their dealing with. If they did, they would never have crucified 163 slave children to line the road to Meeren.

This is the short recap of the show, but if you want a longer version, then please read my friend James Knipp's Recap on Biff Bam Pop!!!

Dragons, Wesen and Dead People...Oh My!

Game of Thrones is back tonight and I can’t wait to see why happens next. I love Daenerys and her dragons. The Mother of Dragons and the Unsullied is my favorite character on this show, but I also have other favorites like Tyrion (Peter Dinklage).

I’m hoping that Tyrion be able to keep Sansa (Sophie Turner) and himself safe from his sociopathic nephew? Jamie with the help of Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) has shed some of his bad boy image.

Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster Waldau) revealed that he can be good when he wants to, but now that he’s back home, will sister Cersei (Lena Headey) tempt the return of Jamie’s old ways? I hope not because I like the new Jaime. As for the Starks, season 3 was not kind to them. Let’s hope the Stark survivors, will find some respite on Season 4.

                                                                                   GRIMM

This past Friday on Grimm Nick (David Giuntoli) reunites with his Ninja Mom Kelly (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) who saved Adalind (Claire Coffee) and her infant daughter from assassins.

Adalind is safe and sound for the moment in Portland. Nick needs to protect the child, but Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) isn’t about to turn over his child.

Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) are working on the final arrangements for their wedding day. Rosalee has her dress and  Monroe has found a solution for Nick being the best man at his wedding; sunglasses.
                                                                   Resurrection

I’ll be watching Resurrection and will update you on that series on Monday. We left off with Caleb being arrested by Sheriff Langston and Bellamy, but it’s only the beginning and something is coming with the storm

Game of Thrones and a Flash of Fangs

After the Red Wedding episode of last week, I had no idea how this season of Game of Thrones was going to end; for me it ended well. The Lannisters think that all the Starks are dead except for Sansa; they’re in for a surprise.

Spoiler Alert:

If you don’t want to know what happened on the season finale, then you might want to skip this post altogether.

The Night Watch

To start with, Jon Snow found out the hard way that you don’t piss off a woman who’s capable of killing you. Ygritte (Rose Leslie) pulled a Daryl (The Walking Dead) on Jon Snow before he was able to escape. But even full of arrows, Jon made it back to the Night Watch.

Samwell Tarly (John Bradley-West and Gilly (Hannah Murray) also made it safely back to the Night Watch after speaking with Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) but Samwell was unable to discourage Bran from heading into danger.

Samwell tells the Night Watch about the white walkers and how he killed one of them.

Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) is a very proud of himself. He orchestrated the Red Wedding with Walder Frey (David Bradley).  He orders Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) to get Sansa (Sophia Turner) with child. Tyrion might want to take pointers from Jon on why it’s dangerous to piss off the women in that show; Shae (Sibel Kekilli) won’t be easy to get rid of.

Jaime Lannister and Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) finally arrive safely at Red Keep. When Jaime goes to Cersei (Lena Headly), she is turned off by his stump.

Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) is at the mercy of a creep! I don’t care what he did wrong; no one deserves to be tortured. Theon’s manhood is cut off and sent to his family. Big sister Yara (Gemma Whelan) is pissed off and is heading out to rescue little brother; paybacks are murder!

Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) is my favorite character in the show. How could you not like her? She kills the bad guys and frees the slaves. Last night, she gave the slaves of the village a choice. Would they fight for her? Hell, yes! They lifted her into their arms and called her Mhysa (Mother).

I was happy with the ending of season three and can’t wait until season four.

                                                 Now about those fangs!

Sunday night is the premier of True Blood. Yes, I’ll be in my glory and watching that tall handsome Vampire, Eric on HBO at 9 p.m. Last we heard, Bill is on a blood warpath and Sookie and Eric have to flee for their lives.

Massacre on Game of Thrones

I haven’t read the books! I have them, but I haven’t had a moment to read them. I’m busy trying to keep my head above water; I can’t swim. If I had read the books, then I would have been prepared for last night’s shocker.

The Rains of Castamere started out fine. Robb Stark (Richard Madden), his pregnant bride, mother and army went to the Twins for a wedding. Edmur was to be married to one of Walder Frey’s (David Bradley) daughters. But there was some tension between the Starks and Frey. Why? Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) had promised Walder Frey that her son would marry into the family. She did this without telling her son, but Robb refused the offer and married Talisa (Oona Chaplin).  No big deal, it was just water under the bridge, right? Wrong!

The Wedding ceremony went without a hitch; the bride and groom (Edmur) were carried away to the bridal chamber after a night of food and drinks. Then Frey gave the signal for the musicians to play a tune and that’s when the sh_t hit the fan!

While the music played (Think of the baptismal scene from the Godfather) Robb, Talisa, Catelyn, and all Robb’s men were butchered. Damn!

Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) on the other hand is doing fine!

She has two stud muffins, Daario (Ed Skrein)

                                                                and Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen)

fighting for her attention, while they do all in their power to bring her closer to the Iron throne.

Jon Snow (Kit Harington) gets into a fight with the wildings when they try to kill a Northman. He doesn’t know that the Stark boys are on that farm.

After the dire wolves come to the rescue, Jon rides away and leaves Ygritte (Rose Leslie behind. Is he nuts? Have you seen her fight? She’s going to kill him; you know a woman scorned and all that stuff.

Next week is the season finale. I hope there are no weddings in this episode. My nerves can’t take it.
