Episode Seventy-two of Lilith's Escape

                                                                   

The jeep holding Lieutenant Scott, Edward, Scouter and three other soldiers pulled through the gates of the naval base. Edward and Scott were arguing on the ride over, but Edward won and Scouter would be spared the injection. Edward would be the one to interrogate this prisoner.

“It looks like you were knocked around some. Do you need to stop at the base hospital?” Lt. Scott asked Edward aka Brandish.

“No, I’m fine. Just let me take care of my prisoner,” Edward replied. He was hoping to get inside the holding cells and find Rita’s husband and Lazarus.

                                                                    

After the jeep dropped Edward and Scouter off at the prison, it took off, heading towards the Command Center. “You think they bought our story?” Scouter asked.

 “I’m not sure, but we'll soon find out,” Edward said, as the guard at the prison gate ordered them to stop.

                                                                         

“Your credentials, please,” the armed guard said, putting out his hand. Edward handed over his identification and waited.

                                                                            

“There seems to be a problem,” the guard said. Before Edward could reply, two more guards showed up with their weapons drawn.
This was definitely not part of the plan.

Steampunk's Awesome "The Gilded Festival" in November

                                                                  

Okay, my little Steampunk aficionados, I have some big news. No! The zombie apocalypse did not begin. Don't worry, I have my katana ready. This news is about the big festival coming up at the end of November. The brains behind this big event is our ever talented Gil Cnaan. He's responsible for Dorian's Parlor, and the very popular Steampunk events held in Philadelphia. I had the chance to interview Gil about "The Gilded Festival" and I'm excited to share the big news with you.
                                                                        

You all know how much I love Steampunk and in fact I posted about the last Dorian's Event on Biff Bam Pop! What is “The Gilded Festival? Where? When?

The Gilded Festival is what happens when the staff at Dorian's Parlor say "We love doing this event, and wish it would never end!  We also wish that we could be open to a broader variety of ages, and have more performers, and more vendors, and more food, and more of everything!"  It will occur on Thanksgiving weekend, Friday November 29-Sunday December 1, at the Doubletree of Valley Forge/King of Prussia.  

 

What performers and venders can we expect to see at the Gilded Festival?

The list of performers and vendors is constantly being updated, but our preliminary performers include:

In addition, we are looking at the potential of having multiple fashion shows, as well as an interactive panel about the historical fashions that influenced modern Steampunk styles, as well as a variety of other interactive experiences.  There will also be clockwork egg hunts, as well as a whole track of family oriented programming that is currently being worked on by the director of programming while this interview is happening. 

We will also have two catered events that we are very excited about.  The first of which will be a kickoff dinner, The Orphan's Dinner, which will be a Thanksgiving style meal for those who are around Friday afternoon.  On Saturday, we plan on serving a high tea.  We are currently negotiating menus and prices with the hotel, and hope to announce those soon.

What inspired you to create this event?

I've always enjoyed doing weekend events, and felt that waiting a full year for Steampunk World's Fair to come back again was just unbearable, so I thought it might be nice to have something 6 months away, so that there's always a big event to look forward to.


What will the visitors see when they arrive?   

Hopefully they'll see a bustling group of people going to various exciting shows (2 stages, an interactive room, and various wandering performances), patronizing exciting vendors (3 vendor rooms are currently planned for), socializing with each other, and having delicious food and drink.

Will this be something that you'll be doing each year?

If this goes well, not only am I planning to continue this as an annual tradition, but there are several other weekend events I am looking at launching.  So if people want to see more great weekend events in the greater Philadelphia area, get tickets, and get them soon.  The sooner I sell enough tickets, the sooner I can start programming more events.

Breakthrough Event to Showcase Emerging Acts, Advanced Ideas and Disruptive Innovation in a Festive Urban Environment

 

SAN JOSE, CA (Aug. 1, 2013) – Pivotal Silicon Valley innovators will converge on their home turf with some of the biggest names in music when THE C2SV TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE + MUSIC FESTIVAL, headlined by protopunk legends Iggy and the Stooges, takes over Downtown San Jose to celebrate the digital culture explosion Thursday, Sept. 26 through Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013.

Rise of the Guardians

 

                                                                           

 

Okay, so you all know by now that I have a hard time sleeping, but I’m not complaining. I get to see some really good, and sometimes, bad movies on T.V. Today’s blog is about one of the good movies, Rise of the Guardians. I had seen the trailers for this little gem when the film first came out, and I think my youngest grandson went to see it; I unfortunately missed it, until last night. Yes, my little zombie snacks, I do watch movies that don't feature zombies or vampires.

                                                                   

The Plot

Pitch Black (voice of Jude Law), the maker of nightmares is tired of all the happiness in the world. He has to take a back seat to North (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher), and Sandy the sandman, who brings young children their happy dreams. Pitch Black’s plan is to destroy Sandy in order to invade children’s dreams, and one by one, destroy the wee one’s belief in all that is good. I thought we adults were already doing this with wars, pollution and GMO’s. Okay, I’ll be good and not rant.

                                                                            

                                                                                    

The Guardians

While North and his abominable snowmen and elves are busy at making toys for Christmas, and the Tooth Fairy and her faeries collect teeth from under the children’s pillows, and the Easter Bunny is busy painting eggs for the big egg hunt deadline, we learn about a boy called Jack Frost.

                                                                               

Jack

Jack Frost’s (Chris Pine) only memory is waking up under the full moon. He has no memory of his past, but it doesn’t take him long to find out that he can make things pretty damn cold. The only problem is that no one can see him or hear him; he’s lonely. Hundreds of years go by and then one day he, for no particular reason, helps a group of children enjoy a great snowball fight. He even becomes protective of James (Dakota Goya) and his baby sister.

                                                                     

The Moon

Every good story has a battle and it’s usually about good vs. evil. The Man in the Moon has picked Jack Frost to be a Guardian. Santa, Tooth, Bunny and Sandy try to teach Jack why it’s so important to protect a child’s belief in good, but because Jack can’t remember his past, he’s hesitant to help. Meanwhile, Pitch Black is gaining power over the world with his nightmares, and if all the children in the world stop believing; the good guys will fade away. Will Jack Frost be able to save the children of the world and the other Guardians?

                                                                           

Conclusion

This is a great 3D computer-animated film based on William Joyce’s The Guardians of Childhood. This DreamWorks animation is filled with adventure and it’s a great family film that you will enjoy. How can you go wrong if Steven Spielberg is behind this film? In my opinion, he’s also a protector of childhood dreams.

Episode Seventy-one of Lilith's Escape

                                                            

Shots rang out and two of the zombies fell to the ground before Edward had a chance to get a shot off on his own. As the jeep pulled up to Edward and Scouter, the soldiers inside the jeep put down the remaining zombies.

“We thought you were dead,” the officer, who climbed out of the jeep and walked over to Edward, said.

                                                                     

“Me too,” Edward replied. His British accent hidden, his mind clicked through the descriptions given to him by Tzaddik of the known comrades of Captain Brandish, but he could not place this officer’s face. “Thanks to this fool, I was able to escape,” Edward added, trying to buy some time, but he was saved by one of the soldiers who had called out to the officer.

                                                                          

The officer walked away from Edward to speak to his men, but when he returned he said to Edward, “You can ride with us, Captain, but we won’t need him.” The officer then pulled out his gun and aimed at Scouter.

                                                                             

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Edward yelled at Lieutenant Scott. He knocked away the officer’s arm and said, “This man is my prisoner and I’ll decide when he dies.”

Lieutenant Scott gave Edward a dirty look, but he put his gun back in his holster. Edward could hear Scouter’s sigh of relief, but they weren’t out of danger, yet. “When you’re done with him, we’ll inject him with the virus and set him loose,” Scott countered.

                                                                           

This was not starting out to be a good day for the rebels.
