Besides interviewing people for my blog, I also interview people for Biff Bam Pop! I love writing for this amazing Pop Culture Website that was created by Editor-in-Chief, Andy Burns and I love being part of a team of talented, kick ass writers. Over the years, Andy and his associated editor and right hand man, Glenn Walker, have trusted me to review not only the sacred cow of television, "The Walking Dead" but also a host of other series. They have also trusted me to do interviews of popular series stars. I've worked my way up to senior writer for Biff Bam Pop, which only goes to prove that even a tech challenged granny can reach for the stars.

A Taste For Syfy and Geeks

                                                                       

There are a lot of great shows on television; some are brand new like Helix. Some never seem to get old like The Big Bang Theory, which  is now in its seventh season. I never getting tired of watching the antics of my favorite geeks. Last night’s episode was about Valentine’s Day and how some men just don’t get it. I’m talking about Sheldon (Jim Parsons) who is so smart that he’s dumb. Dumb to poor Amy’s (Mayim Bialik) attempts at romance.
                                                                               

As a Valentine treat, Amy took Sheldon on a train ride and not any old train ride. She booked dinner for four on Napa's Wine Train in Napa California. I've been on that train several times with my family and let me tell you, I was just as excited as Sheldon to ride the Napa Wine Train.
                                                                               

While Howard (Simon Helberg) and his sweetie, Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) enjoy the great food on the train, Amy is left to fend for herself because Sheldon finds another train fanatic to talk to. While this is going on, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) mess up big time while babysitting Rajesh's (Kunal Nayyar) dog, Cinnamon.
                                                                                 

                                                                 

In the end all is well and Amy gets her kiss.

Helix
I've finally caught up with this amazing science fiction show on demand. Helix will be on tonight at 10 p.m. and I can't wait to see what happens next. I just watched the episode called "The White Room."
                                                                               

                                                                    
You're never sure who the good guys are. One of the characters, who I thought was good, Major Sergio Balleseros (Mark Ghanime) just killed another of my favorite characters, Dr. Doreen Boyle (Catherine Lemieux). Major Balleseros is under orders to find Dr. Hvit and Dr. Hatake does away with unhappy dissenters.
                                                                          

If this wasn't confusing enough, we finally find out what the white room is. Duh, it's the artic itself. When Major Balleseros goes outside of the compound looking for the mysterious Dr. Hvit, he finds the good doctor.

Wow, it seems the Governor from "The Walking Dead" isn't the only one collecting heads. Watch the show it's well written and keeps you guessing.

 

Helix

 

                                                    

Thanks to a friend’s suggestion (thank you Stacey Wright) I started watching missed episodes of a new SyFy show, Helix. This is one hell of a great show. I’ve only watched the first four episodes so far, but I hope to catch up before Friday.

Plot

Helix is a Science fiction thriller that premiered on the SyFy channel in January. Where the hell was I that I missed this? Oh now I remember, I was doing the reviews on Dracula. Anyway, a team of scientists from the CDC are called in to investigate a breach at a research facility in the Artic. When Dr. Alan Farragut (Billy Campbell) and his team arrive at Arctic Biosystems, they are pulled into a life and death struggle to control an outbreak. There is just one itty bitty problem; the man in charge of the facility, Dr. Hiroshi Hatake (Hiroyuki Sanada) is holding the cards and he has all the aces.

                                                                          

Dr. Farragut must try to save his brother Dr. Peter Farragut (Neil Napier) who has been exposed to the infection.  The infection and the symptoms remind me of something right out of the XFiles.  It’s hard to tell who the bad guys are and the shocks keep you on the edge of your seat. There are 13 episodes and each episode represents a single day within the story.

                                                                         

Conclusion

Friday nights are now looking better than ever especially with these two well written and intelligent shows, Grimm and Helix. If I’m going to be snowbound in my house for the next few weeks, I might as well enjoy a night of good television. Haunted Collector

                                                                             

Season Three of one of my favorite shows returned to the Sy-fy channel on March 6th. Haunted Collector which airs on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. follows a team of paranormal investigators who are asked to do research on buildings (public or private) that have a high level of spiritual activity. The team is led by John Zaffis, a world renowned demonologist and paranormal researcher. Objects that are collected during his investigation are stored in his museum, but only after the items have gone through a binding ritual done by a member of the clergy. His work is documented in his book, Shadows of the Dark.

                                                                    

Team Zaffis includes two of his children Aimee and Chris Zaffis along with Jason Gates and Jesslyn Brown (investigators), and Brian Cano,( a tech specialist and second in command). When Brian is not working on Haunted Collector, he produces an independent paranormal series called “Scared”.

Why are objects haunted?

Maybe a particular object was cherished by a person while they were alive and the object’s appeal still draws that person’s spirit to it. Some objects were used in ceremonial rituals and they carry the essence either good or evil of the practiced ritual. When I visited the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, there was one particular room that reeked of paranormal activity and my two ghost hunting friends also felt the vibes when we entered that hall.

What do you do with a haunted object?

Don’t destroy it. You might cause worse problems, like a pissed off spirit. The smart thing is to contact a paranormal investigative group to handle this situation. The object needs to go through a binding ceremony by a member of the clergy.

                                                                                                

If you want to find out more about the subject of hauntings, be they spirits or objects, then you need to watch Haunted Collectors on Wednesday night.

                                                                       

Oh, and by the way, now that the warmer weather is just around the corner, there will be plenty of flea markets and yard sales popping up all over the place. Have fun shopping, but if weird things start happening in your house after purchasing that antique piece of jewelry, then my little ghost snack, you are now officially haunted.
