Besides interviewing people for my blog, I also interview people for Biff Bam Pop! I love writing for this amazing Pop Culture Website that was created by Editor-in-Chief, Andy Burns and I love being part of a team of talented, kick ass writers. Over the years, Andy and his associated editor and right hand man, Glenn Walker, have trusted me to review not only the sacred cow of television, "The Walking Dead" but also a host of other series. They have also trusted me to do interviews of popular series stars. I've worked my way up to senior writer for Biff Bam Pop, which only goes to prove that even a tech challenged granny can reach for the stars.

Grimm Returns with a New Season of Horror

                                                                           

I couldn’t wait for Grimm to return, especially with last season’s cliff hanger where Nick (David Giuntoli) was poisoned by the voodoo priest, Baron Samedi (Reg E Cathey) and thrown into a coffin to be taken out of the country to Austria per order of Eric Renard (James Frain), the corrupt half-brother of Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz).
                                                                         

This season opened with Nick being loaded onto a private jet, while his friends the zombies. No not the Walking Dead type of zombies, but people under the control of Baron Samedi’s green spit. Yes the Baron is a monster and one of many that Nick must fight having inherited the job from a long line of Grimms.

                                                                          

Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) are busy fighting back the people who were changed (at least mentally) by the Baron into a raving mindless mob.
                                                                                   

Luckily Rosalie concocted a large batch of anti- poison and is able to save the box car full of “zombies”

                                                                              

                                                   

But, when the Captain, Hank ( Russell Hornsby), Monroe and Juliette finally figure out how Nick will be taken from them, they’re too late to stop the jet, and off it goes into the wild blue yonder. Baron Samedi is feeling pretty good with the successful kidnapping until Nick breaks his way out of the coffin.

                                                                     

Nick doesn’t react the same way to the Baron’s green spit and is able to ignore the Baron’s futile attempts at mind control. They struggle and the plane crashes before it gets very far. The show ends with Nick stumbling away from the crash site and into a biker bar, where he proceeds to tear the place apart.  By the time his friends reach the bar, Nick is gone. While this is going on, Adalind, (Claire Coffee) is having her own problems with Stefania(Shohreh Aghadashloo) and Frau Pech (Mary McDonald-Lewis), but in the end, she gets her mojo back.

                                                                          

I don’t know if I can survive until next Friday to find out what happens to Nick!!! I love this show, and as far as I’m concerned, this is how you do a good supernatural cop show. Watch Grimm on Friday nights at 9 p.m. on NBC followed by Dracula starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Grimm's Monster of the Week: Fuchsteufelwild

                                                                    

Try saying that three times! Last night’s show centered around three different situations. At the start of the show we find ourselves at a big celebration for an online game corporation. The game they’re celebrating is called Black Forest. Two of the people responsible for making oodles of noodles (money) for the company Jenna and Brody sneak away into one of the offices to get some private one on one. Jenna hears a noise, is worried that they’re being watched and leaves Brody alone in the office. Brody is attacked by a creature called a Fuchsteufelwild, who has sharp claws that drip acid. Jenna who heard the commotion returns to find her boyfriend sliced in half and a message written in blood, “Play the game”.  Nick and his team are called in.

                                                                     

Over at Nick’s house, Juliette is still dealing with spirits. She sees a vision of a soaking wet Nick, but when she goes to touch this spirit, it disappears. Why she doesn’t call Nick, I’ll never know, but she goes to visit Rosalee and Monroe at the Spice Shop to ask for help. They go over her house for dinner and this time, she sees a vision of Nick reading a very old book. Rosalee and Monroe don’t see a thing, but they do believe that these visions might be connected to the potion that all three (Nick, Juliette and Renard) drank to break a curse put on Juliette. Somehow, Monroe lets it slip that Juliette vision of Nick, may be connected to Aunt Marie’s trailer, which Nick inherited. Juliette wants to go to the trailer, and Monroe is between a rock and a hard place. If he takes her to the trailer, he’s betraying Nick’s secret, but if he doesn’t, Juliette will leave town.

                                                                    

Renard is having his own adventure. He makes plans to meet one of his informers for a secret meeting, not realizing that his informer is being followed. He learns from his informer that his brother and six other royal families are trying to dissolve the union and that is not good for the humans. When Renard notices that he and the informer are being watched, he goes after the spy and at the same time notices the bomb. Renard grabs the bag and tosses it out into the street, saving everyone’s life in the restaurant. He then gets into a shoot-out with the spy.

                                                                   

Nick, Hank and Sgt. Wu learn from Dominic (the head of the company) that Jenna’s ex-boyfriend might be responsible for the murder, but when Nick and his team go to investigate they realize the man is innocent, but they learn that Brody’s character in the game of Black Forest was also cut in half by a game player known as Nameless. The killer then slices and dices a female friend of Jenna’s and this time leaves three title pages from three different books. It’s another clue, but what does it mean?

                                                                   

Sgt. Wu

This was Sgt. Wu’s night to shine. He figures out that the three books were written under the author’s pseudonyms or non-de-plumes. They get the list of players from Dominic and then Sgt. Wu, using a Sudoku clue (that the killer left with the second murder victim) finds out the real name of the killer and why he’s going after Jenna. He was the tech who helped fix their program when it crashed and not only fixed it, but improved it, but he was never given credit for his work, hence the name “Nameless”. Like I said this was Sgt. Wu’s night to shine and he’s almost killed when the team set a trap for Nameless. When Nick and Hank chase the man onto the roof, he jumps to his death.

Conclusion

I love when a show allows a supporting character to grow in his or her role. Congrats to Sgt. Wu for solving the case, but we’ll need to give Monroe a hug because he’s the one who has to break the news to Nick; Tell Juliette the truth or she’s gone for good. I love this show and I know you will too. So join me on Friday nights at 9 p.m. on NBC.

Part Eight of Lilith's Escape

When Edward was unable to see his hand, he became disoriented, but after feeling Lilith's hand on his chest, he relaxed. After she made some minor adjustments, he was able to see a shadow outline of her and when he glanced at his hand, he could make out its form.

“It takes a little getting used to, but you’ll adjust quickly,” she said.

“I’m ready for the adventure, let’s get started,” he replied.

She took hold of his hand to lead him past the now invisible car and towards the rear of Hatfield House. “No matter what happens, don’t speak,” she warned.

They heard the laughter as they made their way into the rear courtyard, which housed the kitchen and stables. Two older women were sitting at the open door of the main kitchen, laughing among themselves as they plucked the feathers from the game hens.

Edward wondered if they suspected that two time travelers were standing right in front of them, but by their actions, he knew they were unaware of his presence. The dog, on the other, had caught their scent and began to sniff around their feet.

Lilith pulled him away just as the creature began to howl. “Can he see…?”

“Shush,” she commanded, as the two cooks yelled a few choice obscenities at the dog.

There was a large Oak tree in the center of the courtyard. A young woman was sitting on a blanket and although her back was to him, Edward knew at once that it was Elizabeth. She was reading a book.

He headed towards the tree to get a better look, when the sound of an approaching horse, stopped him in his tracks and good thing too, because he would have been knocked to the ground.

The horseman dropped to his knees before the young woman on the blanket.

“Listen,” Lilith whispered to Edward.

He felt his heart give a jump inside his chest as the messenger delivered the news of Mary’s death. He watched as Elizabeth thanked the messenger and then with his help, rose to her feet and walked towards the house.

“Come on,” Lilith urged as they followed Elizabeth into the house and to her private room. They watched, silent, as Elizabeth threw herself on the bed and began to cry for the loss of her sister.

As members of the household rushed in to speak to the new Queen, Lilith pulled Edward from the room. So overwhelmed by what he had just witnessed, Edward was unable to speak.

They made their way back to the car and after climbing inside, Lilith removed her hood and said, “I want you to make love to me.”
