He awoke to
someone licking his face…someone with a fishy breath. Opening his eyes,
Edward was shocked and somewhat disoriented, to say the least, to find his cat
on his chest. “What the bloody hell is going on?”
He sat up so
quickly that Lizzie let out a hiss and jumped off the bed. Lifting her tail
high, she sauntered from the room. He was back home and in his bed. How?
Were the events of the past few days just a dream? A bad dream caused by the hit men running the taxi off the road?
“But it seemed so real…she seemed so…he remembered the feel of her skin… “Lilith,” he muttered to himself.

He climbed out of
bed and pulled on a pair of shorts and that’s when he noticed the blood spots
that were still on the rug. Someone had tried to clean up the blood, probably
the cleaning lady. So the attack by the zombie was real, but…where was she. His
heart sank in his chest. He had fallen in love with this woman, but he was
afraid that she had left him behind, after all.
The sound of breaking
glass pulled him back to the present and he grabbed his gun from the bedside
table. He wondered if it was another zombie attack as he inched his way towards
the kitchen.
He held the gun tightly in his hand and entered the room. It took a few seconds for the scene before him to register on his mind, but when it did, he began to laugh.

Whew! You had me going there!
